Some suns are just bad apples.
A black hole usually forms when a supermassive star runs out of fuel and goes supernova; the core of it becomes so dense that electron and neutron degeneracy pressure are unable to overcome the inwards gravitational forces involved and the core collapses into a black hole. And during that supernova event, you'd expect all the planets to be totally vaporised, probably. This is suggesting that the star collapsed to a black hole and then engulfed a couple of the planets (while the others remained intact) which is weird I think.

Astronomer. Astrologers are the guys that make predictions based on horoscopes and the alignment of celestial bodies and stuff.

Edit: Unless you were making a joke and I totally missed it.

You're really Chris Roberts, aren't you? ;)
Do you honestly believe if I were Chris Roberts I would have allowed you to go through all that grief to get your Idris corvette Matt? If I were CR there would be a few promotions to Wing Commander status around here. :D

You're as bad as Matt. I'm glad you made the list Landge. I haven't signed up yet but I think I might enjoy it.

So does that mean I'll get a free upgrade to Wing Commander, now? You're a chum, Chris ol' bean!

For the fifth or sixth time today, I'm confused. If a star collapses to a black hole, it won't automatically engulf planets.
Or will it? Has anyone ever observed the birth of a black hole? And what about the supermassive variety at the centre of our galaxy? Hasn't it been observed drawing in entire solar systems? Are the objections I've read posted at the CIG forums based off of observed data or scientific theories and the laws of the universe which black holes and other phenomena have a way of defying and rewriting on a daily basis?

black holes are great.. a neutron star might also be super cool..
but no matter what its all good..i dont understand why ppl bitch and whine about the poll and its results.
the topics on the SC forums trying to sway ppl one way or the other are simply pathetic .
meanwhile 80% of the ppl if not more currently dont have a computer that is capable of running the game when it will be released.
and nobody seem to care.. I wonder what the forum will look like on day one and most of the ppl cant even play the game.
and on that day a black hole sure will come in handy

If you are interested in playing Star Citizen I suggest you watch the latest Wingman's Hanger episode (number 48). Towards the end of the episode the real Chris Roberts answers ten questions one of which concerns the likely hardware required to run the game in all its glory. Go and take a look. I could provide a link but frankly if you can't find the SC site by now then you can't be very interested.

I am sure there will be issues when the game launches fully but with the strategy that CIG is using in releasing each module separately many of the bugs, balancing issues etc, etc. will be ironed out before that day dawns.

Let's face it the SC forums are full of members bitching and moaning now so it is likely that there will be a noticeable increase in that sort of traffic when the full game launches. I very much doubt if it will be the total meltdown that greeted Egosoft on the release of X-Rebirth though.

No one needs to spend more than $40 for a game package. Yes, many have spent a lot more but that is up to the individual.

It's fairly simple really. If you can't afford the PC to run Star Citizen then don't buy it. :)

I agree 100% but logic is not strong on the internets :D
I will buy a new computer for it as I am fully aware that my PC cant even run the game on black/white 2 FPS ..
ofc if u buy a game u should know what u are getting into.. its so simple and yet alot of ppl dont get that.. nor do they get that pledging for a game does not mean u can whine on the forum and change the development as u see fit.

I gave my money.. my part is done..everything else is up to them.. if the game sucks well whine all u like.. but its like 1.5 years b4 release and ppl are crying like maniacs.
sigh.

So essentially if you wait until the game is about to be released and buy a mid-range gfx card, you should be fine to play at a "decent" level of detail. Of course the more money you pump into your setup the better... but you'd be fine with a mid-range card of the release year. That is of course provided that you have also upgraded your core PC to be more than a dual-core processor with 4GB of ram as seems to be still quite a common setup these days, which is something I find quite odd for people within the gaming community to have the most of..

Hence that, while I'm tempted to go ahead and upgrade now to a new desktop (mine's about two years old; can run the hangar module at max settings but won't be up to snuff in 2015 when the game launches), I'm going to wait. Today's $5,000+ machines will be budget models in two years' time and something new and even more robust will be available for far less money than you'd pay now. No sense upgrading for SC this early on.

I will be doing the same Matt. As you say, it's pointless upgrading this early.

I finally decided to accept the invitation to join The Convoy and registered my Starfarer and Banu Merchantman. You don't need an invite though Matt.

These are the the numbers:

Over 600 Teamsters to date:
356 Starfarer owners (nearly 60% of all known Starfarer owners!)
84 Banu Merchantman owners
161 other haulers and escorts
