Re: Net Neutrality

AT&T bought Time Warner last night, and Comcast is about to buy what's left of Fox. With Net Neutrality down, AT&T is free to raise prices for Netflix, or even block it entirely in favor of its newly-acquired "HBO Go", of which Netflix is a direct competitor. Netflix doesn't have the strength to st...

Re: Net Neutrality

I agree with Flat. I do think Net Neutrality is poor policy, but it was also poor policy that was a product of a power grab by the FCC. I think those in favor of Net Neutrality should be concerned about more extensive internet regulation. Agencies typically keep expanding regulation in an area once ...

Re: Stellaris

Removing FTL and trying to "fix" the gameplay meant fewer "options" were viable. It became less of a screw-around-sandbox and more of a 4X. People that liked it before because it wasn't a 4X (myself included) simply don't like it now at all, because they don't like 4X's, and I think you'll agree th...

Re: Stellaris

Ok, so we're about 2 months from 2.0, what's the verdict on it? In my view, it's actually even worse than I expected it to be, and I was expecting it to be bad. Not only did they adopt my least favorite FTL method, but then they slowed it down massively, turning the game into a tedious slog. For me,...

Re: Stellaris

yeah, its a very big change. so a whole lot of people dont like it. it breaks their (preferred) way of playing it, very hard so in this case. I don't think it's merely because it changes how people play either, while that is definitely a component. I think the changes go to the core of what people ...

Re: Stellaris

Also, saying people don't like it just because they don't like change is oversimplifying this. While there may be some who feel that way, most of the people I've interacted with liked the previous changes, but hate this one. So if you want to factor the degree of change into your assertion, it would...

Re: Stellaris

Yeah, because you have one whole month before 2.0 was released where people weren't giving negative reviews. Now the reviews are of 2.0 and many people don't like it. It is about 75% positive over the month, but about 50% since 2.0 came out, which is what this discussion is about.

Re: Stellaris

Cornflakes, I'm not ignoring those reviews. Look at the review graph over the past few days, not the one taking the whole month into account. Over the past few days, it's pretty much equal.

Re: Stellaris

It's not free. Dev costs are worked into prices. Basic economics, nothing is free. I disagree with the premise that these changes are improvements, they certainly haven't improved the game for many (takes a look at recent Steam reviews, ouch). Also, there were far more tactful ways to solve the issu...

Re: Stellaris

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but I pretty much hate everything they changed. I know hate is a strong word, but I feel it is appropriate in this case because it makes the game unplayable for me, not necessarily from the performance perspective, but from the perspective that I want...

Re: Stellaris

I really dislike this new update. I gave it a fair chance, got the DLC to see if that fixed it for me, but it didn't. I've played a lot of Paradox games, and in my view this is the biggest change they've ever made to a game through an update. It really is a completely different game, and for me that...
